November 23, 2004I got back from tour late last night. Thanks to everyone who came out to shows and gave their support. I'm always a little amazed to discover how many people are so generous and caring and awesome to me. I can't even begin to express how much I appreciate all of the support. I am happy to be home, but I leave again on Thursday to do a short tour in Singapore and Indonesia. I can barely believe that I am actually going, it feels pretty surreal. I am going with my wonderful friend Alex who was amazing enough to book the entire tour for me. I really can't wait. I have never been to Asia before, let alone travelled outside of the country many times at all. I look forward to meeting new people and seeing new things over there. Check for more updates when I come back. Love to everyone.

Sorry I had to cancel my performance at American University. My car was not starting and I had to take it in this morning to be serviced. But now my car is all ready to leave for three weeks and so am I. I'm playing a show on Halloween in Charlottesville, VA with Circle Takes The Square, and then I meet up with The Feverfew on Tuesday in Philly and we embark on our tour. I'm very excited. Sidenote: I still don't have a Halloween costume, so if anyone has any fun, non-costly costume ideas, let me know! I'm getting desperate and I'm too busy to go out and find or make a costume. Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't done a real update in so long but I've come to detest computers! I have a lot going on these days. I just finished up recording my split 7 inch with Liza which will be out on Exotic Fever sometime within the next month or two. I also just finished recording a 3 song CD EP / 7 inch coming out on Art Of The Underground. It should be out by the end of November. I am really happy with how these songs came out, and I can't wait for everyone to hear them!
In November I will be doing a 3 week tour of the east coast, south, and midwest with my wonderfully talented friend Bethany of The Feverfew. Tour dates are posted on the shows page. If anyone can help with a show in Ohio, we still need one, so please get in touch.
After the tour with The Feverfew, I will be heading east to play some shows in Singapore and Indonesia! I can't wait! I've barely ever even left the country in my life, so I am just thrilled beyond belief to be able to play shows in Asia!
If anyone is interested, there are some pictures posted here from the show I played last weekend in Fredonia, NY. Check them out if you'd like. Thanks to Derrick Nuland for taking them!
Lastly, my band Fated Fury will be recording a few songs in December. I'm pretty psyched. Check out our website here.
Don't forget to vote on November 2nd!

Today in Medford, New York I am playing at Action Fest. This will be an all day show starts at 12pm and ending at 10pm benefitting the Little Shelter on Long Island--a no-kill animal shelter. I play around 2. Come down if you can. There are other show dates posted on the show page. A longer update will come soon.
April 12, 2004
I'm finally updating again. First of all, I want to apologize for cancelling recent shows I was schedule to play over the past couple of weeks. I have been sick on and off for about three weeks now with a lingering sore throat and cough that has impaired my voice so I couldn't sing. I also had to postpone recording for my upcoming seven inch on Art Of The Underground and and the split cd with Liza on Exotic Fever. It has been a rough winter (and spring, so far) for me healthwise and I tend to get sick a lot in the colder months, so I've had to put a lot of things on hold and cancel a lot of shows, but I think that I am finally on my way to recovery and I can't wait to record my new stuff and do some touring when it gets a bit warmer.
I have a bunch of northeast shows coming up in April and May. Check the shows page.
My new long-distance band The Fated Fury finally got together in person about a month ago and wrote three songs. We're going to write three more and record them all and then possibly play some shows on the east coast over the summer.
Aside from all this, I have lots of plans for the summer and fall that I will disclose soon.
lots of love,
February 1, 2004
This website has not been updated in quite a while. I've been back from tour for over a month, planning out all sorts of things for 2004. But before I get to that, I'll try to rehash a bit of the past:
The winter tour was somewhat stressful and we encountered quite a few challenges, but it was a good experience for me nonetheless. Even with all of the complications and set-backs, I was happy to be able to play shows every night for a month, meet lots of new people, and see some old friends. Thanks to Rasmus, Kadd, and John for everything. Also much appreciation to everyone who booked shows or fed us or let us stay with them (too many to list here). Special thanks to Lelia for letting us use her car and temporarily inconvenience her life. Lastly, thanks to Katy Otto of Exotic Fever Records/Del Cielo in general for being my biggest inspiration, supporter, and sorce of emotional strength while on this hectic tour. What would I do without her? (I'd rather not think about it.)
As you may have guessed, the "Mechanical Kid" CD is still not out for real...still waiting on the artwork. This March, it will be a year since I recorded those songs! We're still working on it -- and it will be released by Solution Records and The Tone Library; a collectively-run label that some friends are organizing and I have decided to join forces with in lieu of my theoretical solo-operated label -- Soup Can Almanac. (I may still do it someday, but I don't have time to run my own label right now, plus I'm more interested in working on a label that is collectively-run rather than getting caught up in yet-another lonely solo project.) Hopefully the CD will be out sometime before the one-year anniversary of my recording it -- let's keep our fingers crossed!
Now onto the new. I have roughly ten or eleven new songs written, with four still in the works. These songs, particularily the newer ones, have a different kind of energy and intensity than anything I have written before. I've been told that they are not quite as eager, edgy, emphatic, exuberant. Rather, these newer songs might seem slightly more compelling, contemplative, creepy, cryptic. I'd like to think that some of my newer songs are subconsciously-influenced by Liza's music. If you don't know who Liza is, let me tell you. She is my friend from Richmond, VA who plays the guitar and sings and writes beautiful songs. Sometime in the spring of 2004, Liza and I will be releasing two songs each plus one co-written song for a split CD on Exotic Fever Records. The two songs that I will be recording for it are "Private Pet Playdate" and "Faux Flipper" (formerly known as "Viking Drive-Thru", for those of you who are familiar). We will also be doing a short east coast/midwest tour together in March. I'll post the tour details as soon as I have them.
I will also be going up to Buffalo, NY in the next month to record some songs for a seven inch that will be out on Art Of The Underground sometime in the spring. My friend Eric Ellman will be recording me and possibly playing some instruments on it as well.
Closing this lengthy update, I have one more exciting thing to share: THE FATED FURY. It's a new band that I am doing with Erin McCarley from Delta Dart and the notorious Katy Otto from Del Cielo. I play guitar, Erin plays bass, Katy plays drums. We all sing (I think). Erin is flying out to the east coast from Olympia, WA to write songs with us in late-February. I can't wait to play in a band again and write songs with two people who I regard as exceptionally inspiring, challenging, and downright genius.
That's all for me right now. Time to go bundle up and fantasize about pizza.

I'm on a tour of the U.S. right now. It has been good so far, despite getting hit by a car in Richmond and then being sick since Thanksgiving. But things are looking up. Check the shows page for updates. And don't miss Tiger Lou play while he's over here, because he's amazing (and Swedish).
November 7, 2003
My 23rd birthday is this coming Monday, November 10th. That's in three days. My birthday plans include locking myself in my bedroom and writing songs, since that's what I have been doing a lot of these days (and I have quite a few new ones). It's never too late to send a present.
October 29, 2003
In a little less than a month, I will be leaving for another U.S. tour. This time I will be touring with two other acoustic performers -- Homage To Catalonia (from D.C.) and Tiger Lou (from Sweden!). We still have some gaps in our tour dates, so if anyone can help, please write to me. Until then, there are a bunch of shows scheduled for Brooklyn/NYC, Long Island, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Baltimore over the next few weekends in November. The next show will be this Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia at 1005 Wharton Street with Del Cielo and a new unnamed band featuring members of Kill The Man Who Questions. Come down if you are in the area. Basement shows are the best.
'Mechanical Kid" lyrics were added.
If you want to order the tour edition of "Mechanical Kid" there are still a bunch left and you can now order with a credit card through paypal. Check the audio section of the website for ordering.
October 3, 2003
The tour with Kind Of Like Spitting didn't happen. There were circumstances that kept me from being able to do it, but I am staying in New York right now and working on new songs as well as getting stuff together for the official release of the "Mechanical Kid" LP/CD. The songs are being remastered and there will be an awesome new layout and artwork. I am excited to announce that Paroxysm Records will be putting out the vinyl version of the record. I'm not sure when the vinyl will be pressed, however, the CD version will hopefully be out on Solution Records and Soup Can Almanac by November. The lyrics for "Mechanical Kid" are up on the website now. You can read them here.
I am playing three shows in upstate New York next weekend with Robert Blake, and then some weekend shows in late October through mid-November in Washington D.C., Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and New Jersey and perhaps elsewhere. Then on November 24th I will be headed out for a month-long U.S. tour with Homage To Catalonia and Tiger Lou. I'm looking forward to getting on the road again and coming back to some of my favorite cities as well as visiting some new ones.
There should be a lot more added to the site over the next week, so check back sporadically for updates.

I got back to New York from my seven and a half week tour yesterday. It was the best tour that I have been on thus far and I can't even begin to express how lucky I feel to have been able to have the experience. It completely renewed my hope and appreciation and I can't wait to get out on the road again. If it weren't for Billie, Kelsey, and Damon (my three rotating tour buddies) I don't know how I would have survived it -- real friendship is hard to come by these days and it was absolutely wonderful to be able to spend so much time with these three rad, supportive, inspiring kids -- they made it possible. Also, I came across some of the most authentically genuine, generous, open people I have met to date who's kindness made it all worthwhile. Thanks so much to Katy Otto, Nakatomi Plaza, One Reason, Brian Wilmot Proviso, Kind Of Like Spitting, Chris White, Ben in Montreal, Hollie and Alex in Detroit, Jessika Rae, the kids at Solidarity Books, Derrick Kelly, James and Mary in Somerset, Ailecia Ruscin, Zari, Gabe, Hollie Brown, Calvin Johnson, Jack Saturn, Dan in Oakland, Fil, Tina Bold, Joe Foster, Matt Cat Scratch, Brian Wallace, Jef Whirling Cloud, Samantha Jones, David in Gainesville, Madeline, Liza, Jeff Peel, Kadd, Damon/Melanie/Eric, Mick and Mike, Ali in Bloomington, Ryan in Cincy, all of the people who set up shows, cooked us food, let us stay at their house, and everyone who came to see me play.
My apologies for cancelling the last couple of shows with Nakatomi Plaza but my car was giving me trouble. I will try to reschedule those shows again.
As for my next few weeks or so, I will be joining Kind Of Like Spitting this September for a bunch of shows. I am not officially scheduled to play but I will be making a guest appearance on the tour. I am really excited that Ben asked me to come along with him because he is such a great songwriter and such an awesome person, and I can't wait to be out on the road again. The exact dates are not definite yet and I'm pretty much playing it by ear, but I will post them to my website as soon as soon as I get a better idea. The first show will probably be in New York City on September 10th.
More updates soon. Write me if you want to know about shows with Kind Of Like Spitting or if you want to get a copy of the "Mechanical Kid" tour edition cd. I still have a bunch of them left.
July 15, 2003
Lots of news to report. My new upcoming cd "Mechanical Kid" did not come out on time for my tour. However, I made special limited edition "Mechanical Kid" tour cd-rs with handmade packaging -- only available this summer/fall at shows or through mailorder. The songs on the cd-r will sound slightly different than the actual cd when it comes out because these songs are not mastered fully. On the audio section on my website, you can check out mps for the second and forth songs from the record -- It's Fun To Run and Productive Vampires. The tour version of the"Mechanical Kid" cd is $5 in person and $6 through mailorder. They come in four different colors you can choose from -- hot pink, turquoise blue, aqua green, and dark green. The artwork is really cool. Unfortunately, the picture that I posted in the audio section is just a sketch of the drawing that was used on the cover. The cover is rad and was designed by my ridiculously talented friend Jade Kuei. She is also designing the entire cd layout for the official release of "Mechanical Kid" between Solution Records and Soup Can Almanac (my label). I think that it should be out sometime in September at the latest.
I had to cancel the first few out of state shows of my tour. My apologies to everyone in DC, Philly, Connecticut, and Boston. It was an unavoidable situation and I'd really like to reschedule shows in those places in the fall.
After all of the cancellations, I am really happy to say that I am leaving for tour today (finally). I will be on the road until August 27th. Please come out to a show and say hello. And if you can help fill any of the gaps in my tour, write to me.
Also, in case you haven't heard, Delta Dart (who I was supposed to play about three weeks worth of shows with) broke up and cancelled their tour. It is sad and I will miss them. If you are interested, I will be selling their merchandise for them at my shows through my distro. It might be your last chance to get your hands on some of their stuff because I don't think that it will be repressed.
See you in six weeks (or way sooner if you come out to a show).
On July 10th I will be leaving for my big summer tour! I am so psyched. Check out the shows page for my July/August 2003 U.S. and Canadian tour dates. Some of the dates still aren't confirmed, so please email me if you can help with any of the shows or if you have any ideas or questions.
My new 7-song CD is still being mastered so it won't be ready by the time that I leave for tour, but it should be out sometime in late July! MP3s will be added too. If you want to pre-order a copy, go to the Solution Records website or send an email to Chris at Solution Records.
If you want to order a copy of my CD EP "Object of Affection" you can finally order it online with a credit card. Go to the audio section of the site to order. I can fill these credit card orders while I am on the road but if you mailorder it before July 10th I won't be able to send it to you until I get back from tour in September.
June 11, 2003
My website is finally back up again, yay! My
old server went out of business and this site was down for a while, but I'm not
letting myself get grumpy over it because it's almost summer! To me, nothing
feels better than the beginning of summer, before it gets too hot. Right now my 7-song cd is being mixed by General George at Trench Studios in
Babylon, NY and will be mastered soon. I am hoping that it will finally be out
sometime in July as a split release between Solution Records and my
soon-to-be-named record/book/zine/art/everything else label. I will be adding a
couple of mp3s to the audio section as soon as the songs are finished being
mastered. I promise that it will be worth the long wait. My July/August U.S. tour is still in the works. Those tour dates will be posted
as soon as more are confirmed. In the meantime, I am trying to fill a few tour
dates on my trip out to Denver to play Ladyfest Outwest on June 20th. If anyone
can help with a show anywhere between New York and Denver before June 20th or
after June 23rd, please send me an email.
April 30, 2003
I am still awaiting the final mixes of the songs that I recorded out in
California. Hopefully the new cdep and 7" will be out by mid-June. In the
meantime, I am playing a show with the Microphones this Friday on Long Island,
and some other shows in New York over the next month. I am going to be
touring the entire country in July and August, so if you'd be able to help me
book a show in your town, please get in touch! I am moving in September. Where would I be happiest? The choices
are: Chicago, Los Angeles, or Washington D.C. Email me if you can help me
with this existential dilemma. New and improved webpage, courtesy of the wonderful Brett. This Friday before the MADRE benefit, I'll be on 90.1 FM WUSB for a little
interview/talk at For those of you not in the area, you can listen to the radio show on your
computer here. Also, I can't
play the Anti War rally at Hofstra in March because of work obligations. I have a few shows coming up including an Anti War rally and a benefit for
MADRE (http://www.madre.org), a women's
rights organization that benefits women and famlies in countries like I finally added pictures of my CD and demo covers on the Audio page. I also
added pictures from shows from a few months back (including some from a
Halloween show when I was part of a Bikini Kill cover band!). And, I'm still
working on scanning all those tour pictures. There will be worldwide protests against the war in New webpage updates coming soon I hope. I've just been busy starting my last
semester of college. I finally got pictures developed from my last 3 tours. I'm
also thinking of posting some writings from my last tour journal. We'll see...
